EXPEDITION TO SATOPANTH (7075 M) 

 
   

Best Season May till June, August till mid October 

   

Satopanth is the second highest summit of Gangotri Group in Garhwal Himalaya .  We trek to the Base Camp of Satopanth through Gangotri Temple and Gaumukh, the source of Ganga. Thus we meet pilgrims on our trail which enlightens us to know more about the sacred river Ganga.  On our trek we have excellent views of Shivling, Meru and Bhagirathi etc.  Satopanth was first climbed by Swiss on 01 August 1947.

DELHI
Arrival in Delhi and transfer to Hotel. Combined sightseeing of Old and  New  Delhi. Visiting Red Fort, Jama Masjid , Qutab Minar, Shanti van, Raj Ghat , and pass through  India Gate and Parliament House and President’s Estate.

DELHI / RISHIKESH(340 M)
Drive 225 Km/6 hrs. Rishikesh, situated on the banks of holy river Ganga, is a great pilgrimage center of India. We witness Ganga Artee (worshiping  holy river Ganga) in the evening which is a very soul soothing ceremony just before darkness falls. Overnight in guest house/hotel.

RISHIKESH / UTTARKASHI (1158 M)
Drive 148 km/5 hrs.  Afternoon small acclimatisation walks through the bazaar and river bank of Bhagirathi. .Uttarkashi is a town situated on the bank of Bhagirathi river  with some ancient temples. O/N in simple Hotel.

UTTARKASHI / GANGOTRI (3140 M)
Drive  95 km/5 hrs to Gangotri. En route we stop at hot water spring at Gangnani known for its curative value. In the evening visit Gangotri, holy temple of Ganga and witness prayers of  hundreds of pilgrims with echoing conch cells and bells in the Silent Valley of Gangotri. O/N in  Simple  Hotel.

GANGOTRI
Day free for acclimatisation.  Overnight in Hotel

GANGOTRI / BHOJBAS (3792 M)
Trek to Bhojbas ( 149 km/6 hrs). The trek starts from Gangotri with an easy ascend. All along the route we enjoy  the enchanting  views of Bhagirathi and other peaks. As we   approach Gaumukh we can see the glorious peak of Shivling. O/N Tents.

Bhojbas / Gaumukh / NANDANVAN (4340 M)
Trek 4 km to Gaumukh (3890 m), the Source of Holy River Ganga.   Here we  meet some Sadhus (Hindu Saints)) deep in meditation.  We continue our next 3 km trek  across the Gangotri glacier in the direction of Chaturangi Glacier. We enjoy the glorious view of Bhagirathi massif enroute.O/N Tents.

NANDANVAN / VASUKI KI TAL (4880)/BASE CAMP (4900M)
Trekking further up for about 5 hrs from Nandanvan we cross over maraine and reach Vasuki Tal (4880)  where we set up the Base Camp. Overnight in Tent.

BASE CAMP / ABOVE BASE CAMP/BASE CAMP

Start climbing up to Satopanth peak.  There are three more Camps to be set up in between the summit.  The approximate altitude that we normally set the Camps are -  Camp 1 at 5100 m, Camp II at 5820 m and Camp III At 6300 m.   Overnight in Tents.

BASE CAMP / BHOJBAS (3792 M)
Wind up the Base Camp and return trek Trek to Gangotri .  First day we trek down to Bhojbas.  Overnight in Tent.

BHOJBAS / GANGOTRI/UTTARKASHI (1158 M)
Trek further down to Gangotri ( 14 km./4 hrs.) and then drive to Uttarkashi ( 95  km/5hrs.). Uttarkashi is a town situated on the banks of Bhagirathi river with some  ancient temples.  Drive along Bhagirathi river offers us a beautiful view of the river and sometime we also see  glimpses of Himalayan Peaks.  O/N Simple Hotel.

UTTARKASHI / RISHIKESH (340 M)
Drive to Rishikesh(148 km/6hrs).  En route  we witness Bhagirathi and Alaknanda river merging together to form a mighty Ganga which is on its 2500 km long journey to Bay of Bengal emptying out in Calcutta. Overnight in Hotel.

RISHIKESH / DELHI
Drive 225 km/ 6 hr back to Delhi.  Overnight in Hotel.

DELHI / DELHI
Day Free.  Transfer to international airport as per flight back.

DELHI/DEPARTURE
 Departure from Delhi.
