Madhya Pradesh is the largest State of India in terms of its size. Right in the heart of India. Madhya means centre, Pradesh means State. Blessed with thick green forests and a large variety of Wildlife Madhya Pradesh is nature’s trough. Living in harmony in the Jungles are the tribes from time immemorial of Bastar which is now a new State called Chhatisgarh, earlier part of Madhya Pradesh. This tour is for those who like to see slow moving time in the lives of tribals living in their basic simplicity with minimum needs.

DELHI
Arrival in Delhi and transfer to hotel. Combined sightseeing of Old and New Delhi.

DEL/AGRA
We take morning train Shatabdi Express 0615/0830 to Agra. Sightseeing of Taj Mahal, Red Fort and local bazaars.

AGRA/BHOPAL
We take Shatabdi Express in the morning to reach Bhopal by 1400 hr. In the afternoon we walk around old Bhopal city.

BHOPAL/SANCHI/UDAYAGIRI/SANCHI/BHOPAL
Drive 46 km north of Bhopal to Sanchi to see first stupa build by Emperor Ashoka in 3rd century BC and many other Buddhist stupas built in succeeding centuries. We further drive to Udayagiri Caves dating back to 320 to 606 AD.

BHOPAL/UJJAIN
Drive to Ujjain, west of Bhopal 189 km. Ujjain is one of the holiest cities of Hindus and ranks equal to famous exotic city of Varanasi.

UJJAIN/MANDU
Mandu is known as ‘city of joy’. Visit Jahaz Mahal (Ship Palace) built in the shape of ship, Jama Masjid built in 1454, claimed to be finest and largest example of Afghan architecture. We also visit some natural spots for which Mandu is known.

MANDU/INDORE
Today we make excursion to Maheshwar, once an important cultural and political centre at the dawn of Hindu civilisation and was mentioned in the Ramayana and Mahabharat. We also visit Omkareshwar Temple in the island at the confluence of the Narmada and Kaveri rivers. Omkareshwar has one of the 12 Jyoti Lingams at the Shiva Temple.

INDORE/BHOPAL
Drive back to Bhopal 190 km.

BHOPAL/PACHMARHI
Pachmarhi is well known hill station of Madhya Pradesh standing at 1067 m, 210 km south east of Bhopal.

PACHMARHI
Sightseeing/Excursions of Pachmarhi. Visit some famous caves for its paintings. During Shivratri Festival, which is held in the month of March, ascetic Sadhus and tribals mingle freely in this fair.

PACHMARHI/MUKKI (KANHA)
Drive to famous Kanha National Park covering 940 sq km of core area. Kanha has tiger population of over 100 tigers. Other animals that we can see are bison, black buck, barasingha, sambar and many other varieties.

KANHA

14-18

KANHA/BASTAR
We drive to in the direction of Bastar which is a tribal area, bigger in size than whole of Kerala State. En route we visit Bhoramdeo temple, and Barsur temples, which are known as Khajuraho temples of Bastar because of its erotic stone carvings. Our route is via Raj Nand Gaon / Bhanupratapur / Narainpur / Dantewara / Jagdalpur. During this period we meet tribes such as Gond, Maria, Muria, Halba, Bhattara etc. We also visit interesting tribal markets and watch cock fight which is one big sport amongst the tribes. We would also watch some tribal folk dances specially organised for us.

JAGDALPUR/RAIPUR/DELHI
Today we leave this beautiful area of Bastar and drive 8hr to reach Raipur to connect our flight to Delhi late in the evening. On arrival direct transfer to the international airport.

 

 

20

DELHI/DEPARTURE
