DETAILED ITINERARY

 

 

Day 1 - Departure

Depart from your home country.

Day 2 - Delhi

Arrival in Delhi and transfer to hotel.  After breakfast we proceed for the sightseeing of Old & New Delhi visiting some Art Galleries exhibiting Paintings, Drawings and Sculptors etc. We begin the tour with visit to National Gallery of Modern Art designed by Edwin Lutyens in 1920.  He combined neo-classical with architectural elements from Mughal and Buddhist past and thus forged a new style of architecture for imperial Delhi. Thereafter we visit India Habitat Centre which has various art galleries such as Visual Arts, Open Palm Court and Experimental Gallery that hold regular Paintings, Sculptures, Photography and Media shows. Later we go to Delhi Haat which not only offers various arts and handicrafts of India, but also a taste of the ethnic cuisine. We see different arts for example bell metal work and cast iron work.  Thereafter, we enter the Old city and visit Jama Masjid which is one of the largest mosque in India and also enjoy a  Rikshaw (Tricycle) Ride in Chandini Chowk which is more than 300 years old prominent wholesale and retail market. We pass through the architectural buildings of Sansad Bhawan and Rashtrapati Bhawan . Overnight in Hotel.

Day 3 -Delhi / Nawalgarh

Drive 265 km / 7 hr to Nawalgarh in Shekhawati region of Rajasthan which is known for its Havelis and wall paintings.  The Havelis date back to 18th century and the walls, ceiling and roofs have been painted in vegetables and stone colours. The region offers an amazing density of villages and small towns with painted facades, variety of architecture and paintings.  We visit some of the prominent Havelis of Nawalgarh showing interesting architecture and frescoes.  Overnight in Hotel.

Day 4 - Nawalgarh / Bikaner

Drive 250 km / 6 hr to Bikaner renowned for the best riding camels. This desert town with its superb fort, some wonderful Jain temples and an atmospheric old city is located in the North of Rajasthan.  On arrival we visit Junagarh Fort built in 1588 AD and then walk through the old city and its colourful bazaars. The magnificent forts and palaces which are built with reddish-pink sandstone bear testimony to its rich and architectural legacy till today.  Overnight in Hotel.

Day 5 - Bikaner / Kalathal / Jamba

After breakfast we drive 190 km / 4 hr to Kalathal via Nokhra and Chakhu.  From Kalathal we mount our camels and begin the camel safari to Jambha via Kumharon Ki Dhani, a Potters’ Hamlet engaged in colourful mattress weaving from jute. Lunch near Motai.  Post lunch we continue our safari to Jhamba. (Total 17 km / 5 hr ) Overnight in Tent.

Day 6 - Jamba / Jodhpur

Jodhpur is one of the most distinctive princely  State of Rajasthan. After breakfast we drive 175 km / 4 hr to Jodhpur and visit the massive Mehrangarh Fort built in 1459 which is located atop a small hillock with superb view of the town. We also visit Jaswant Thada and Mahamandir which are in the close vicinity of the Fort. Rest of the time free to stroll down to the colourful market of the city - Sadar Bazaar which is bustling markets for textiles, fabric paintings, wooden carvings and spices.    Overnight in Hotel.

Day 7 - Jodhpur / Ranakpur / Udaipur

After breakfast we drive 270 km / 7 hr to Udaipur, the city of Lakes. En route we visit the famous Ranakpur Jain Temple built in 1439 which is superbly crafted and well kept marvel of Indian architecture.  There are 1444 pillars and none of them look alike.  Later drive further to Udaipur. Overnight in Hotel.

Day 8 - Udaipur / Jaipur

We visit Shilpgram in the west of Udaipur. It is an artisan’s village having living ethnographic museum depicting life style, traditions, customs and folk arts of the rural and tribal people of Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujrat, Goa, Daman etc.  There are several huts constructed in the traditional architectural style using mud and local building material to collect geographical and ethnic diversity of different states.   Back to the city for further sightseeing visiting City Palace, Jagdish Temple, Sahelion ki Bari and Lake Pichhola.  Later transfer to Railway Station for overnight train to Jaipur.  Overnight in Train.

Day 9 - Jaipur

Arrive in Jaipur at 0600 hr and transfer to the hotel for breakfast. Jaipur popularly known as the Pink City because of the pink paint applied to the buildings in its old walled city as the mark of hospitality of Rajput traditions. After breakfast proceed for sightseeing visiting Amber Fort built in 16th century where we go up the Fort on Jeep to see the mesmerizing blend of Mughal and Hindu architecture.  On our way back, we would visit Kathputali Nagar, a small village where the inhabitants make Puppets which is a popular art in Rajasthan. Sightseeing of City Palace (1728 – 1732), Hawa Mahal and Observatory.  After lunch drive to Sanganer which is 12 km from Jaipur.  The town is known for textile printing with vegetable colours laying out different patterns by wooden blocks. Here we also visit “tie and dye”, a typical way of dying clothes with knotted dye.  Another specialty of Jaipur is making ceramic Blue Pottery. We visit one such manufacturing unit to see craftsmen at work.  Overnight in Hotel.

Day 10 - Jaipur / Fatehpur Sikri / Agra

Drive 240 km / 6 hr to Agra, the city of Taj Mahal.  En route  we visit Fathepur Sikri.  Architectural marvels of India is mind boggling – be the intricate inlay work of famous Taj Mahal, Temple architecture, Palaces or Forts.  Fatehpur Sikri is the sandstone capital of Akbar which is one of his architectural achievements. On arrival in Agra we visit visit Agra Fort, an imposing structure of red sandstone on the bank of Yamuna River. This Fort was built for the military purposes in 1565 by Emperor Akbar and then additions made until the rule of his grandson Emperor Shah Jehan.  (Thereafter, we visit Taj Mahal if the next day is Friday because Taj Mahal is closed on Friday)  Overnight in Hotel.

Day 11 - Agra

We visit the mesmerizing white beauty the Taj Mahal today. Built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and is an eternal symbol of love. This majestic white structure still continues to awestruck many. Later, we also do the sightseeing of Agra Fort - a majestic sandstone structure. The Fort was earlier the residence of the Mughal dynasty and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After the sightseeing of these historical monuments, we return to hotel for overnight.

Day 12 - Agra / Delhi / Departure

We drive 210 km / 5 hrs to Delhi.  Upon arrival, rooms for wash and change.  Later, we transfer you to the International airport for your journey back home.
